Even local backtracking over vertices fails because each choice propagates constraints across the entire grid.

Algorithm Walkthrough
The construction is easiest to understand if we think in terms of local pairing at vertices rather than edges directly.
- For every grid vertex, we decide how its incident edges are paired. Each vertex has up to four incident edges, so it can either connect left-right, up-down, or in boundary cases choose no connection. For inner vertices, only pairings are allowed because they must have degree exactly two.

The non-obvious part of this algorithm is that we never explicitly enforce the cell parity constraints as separate equations.
