There are several cellular towers fixed on the plane. At every moment during the walk, the phone connects to the closest tower. If we call that minimum Euclidean distance at time $t$ as $f(t)$, the operator charges based on the integral of the squared distance over the whole walk. In other words, every instant contributes an amount equal to the square of how far the user is from the nearest tower, and we accumulate that continuously over time.
The output is a single real number, the total accumulated cost.
The constraints are small enough that a solution around a few million arithmetic operations is acceptable. There are up to 2000 towers and up to 500 route points, so the number of segments is at most 499. Each segment has length at most 2000 because coordinates are bounded in $[-1000, 1000]$. This immediately rules out anything that tries to evaluate distance to every tower at every time step with fine discretization.
A naive continuous simulation that samples each unit of time would still be too slow in the worst case, since it would lead to about $500 \cdot 2000 = 10^6$ steps, and each step checking 2000 towers gives $2 \cdot 10^9$ distance computations.
A subtler issue appears in geometry: the closest tower can change continuously inside a segment. Even if you pick the nearest tower only at segment endpoints, you can miss the fact that another tower becomes closer in the middle. On a single straight segment, the position of the user depends on one parameter $t$, the time from the start of that segment. If the segment is horizontal, one coordinate is constant and the other is linear in $t$. The squared distance to any fixed tower becomes a quadratic function of $t$. If we expand it carefully, every tower contributes a parabola in $t$, and the function we need is the minimum of all these parabolas.
So each segment reduces to integrating a function of the form “minimum of $n$ quadratics over an interval”.
A brute-force approach would discretize time at a very fine resolution and for each time point recompute the nearest tower. That works conceptually because it directly follows the definition of the function, but it is computationally infeasible because each evaluation requires scanning all towers.
The key structural observation is that all quadratic functions share the same leading coefficient in $t^2$. After expanding the distance expression, every tower contributes a function of the form
$$t^2 + (linear\ in\ t) + constant.$$

Algorithm Walkthrough
We process each segment of Marco’s path independently.
- For a segment, parameterize the movement with time $t \in [0, L]$, where $L$ is the Manhattan length of the segment. The position becomes linear in $t$, either changing $x$ or $y$ while the other coordinate stays fixed. This makes squared distances polynomial in $t$.

Why it works
