Problem Understanding
We have an n × m grid. The king starts at the top-left cell (1,1) and must end there as well. Every other cell must be visited exactly once. Normal movement is allowed only between side-adjacent cells, but we may additionally install directed teleporters. A teleporter is attached to one cell and always sends the king to the same destination whenever used.
The task is not only to compute the minimum number of teleporters, but also to explicitly construct both the teleporter system and the complete route.
Without teleporters, this becomes a Hamiltonian cycle problem on a rectangular grid graph. Grid graphs are bipartite, so parity immediately matters. A Hamiltonian cycle exists only when at least one dimension is even. When both dimensions are odd, the graph contains an odd number of vertices, and a bipartite graph cannot contain an odd-length cycle visiting every vertex exactly once.
The limits are tiny, at most 100 × 100 = 10^4 cells. We only need to output one valid construction. Any linear traversal over the grid is easily fast enough. The difficulty is purely constructive.
The dangerous edge cases are the small odd grids.
Consider 1 × 2.

The route
(1,1) -> (1,2) -> (1,1)
already works without teleporters because the two cells are adjacent.
Now consider 1 × 3.
(1,1) (1,2) (1,3)
A naive snake traversal gives
(1,1) -> (1,2) -> (1,3)
but now we are stuck because returning directly to (1,1) would revisit (1,2). This grid has odd size, so a Hamiltonian cycle does not exist. One teleporter is necessary.
Another subtle case is 3 × 3. A careless implementation might try to snake through all cells and finally walk back to the start. That inevitably revisits cells. The correct approach is to finish at a carefully chosen cell and teleport directly back to (1,1).
Approaches
The brute-force viewpoint is to search for a Hamiltonian cycle in the grid graph, possibly augmented with teleporters. One could backtrack over all paths that visit every cell exactly once and attempt adding teleporters wherever the walk gets stuck.
This works conceptually because the grid is small enough to describe explicitly, but the search space explodes immediately. A 100 × 100 grid contains 10^4 vertices. Hamiltonian path search is exponential, roughly on the order of 4^(nm) in naive DFS branching. Even much smaller grids become impossible.
The key observation is structural. Rectangular grids already have very regular Hamiltonian traversals.
When at least one dimension is even, a Hamiltonian cycle exists with no teleporters at all. A standard snake traversal can be arranged so the final cell is adjacent to (1,1).
When both dimensions are odd, a Hamiltonian cycle is impossible because the graph is bipartite with an odd number of vertices. One teleporter is enough: construct a Hamiltonian path starting at (1,1) and ending anywhere else, then teleport back to (1,1).
So the real problem reduces to building explicit traversals.
For even dimensions, we create a cycle entirely with normal moves.
For odd dimensions, we create a Hamiltonian path and place exactly one teleporter at the ending cell pointing to (1,1).
Minimality follows immediately:
- If a Hamiltonian cycle already exists, zero teleporters are optimal.
- If both dimensions are odd, zero teleporters are impossible, so one is optimal.

Case 1: At least one dimension is even
We construct a Hamiltonian cycle directly.
If n is even
- Start at
(1,1). - Traverse columns in a vertical snake pattern.

Why it works
The snake traversals always move between side-adjacent cells and visit each grid cell exactly once.
When one dimension is even, the traversal can be arranged so the final cell lies adjacent to the starting cell, producing a Hamiltonian cycle with no teleporters.
When both dimensions are odd, parity forbids any Hamiltonian cycle. The snake still gives a Hamiltonian path, and a single teleporter closes the route. Since zero teleporters are impossible, one is minimal.

The implementation directly mirrors the construction.
The first branch handles even n. Traversing columns in alternating directions guarantees that consecutive cells are adjacent. The only special handling is skipping (1,1) because it is already inserted as the starting position.
The second branch is symmetric for even m. Instead of snaking by columns, we snake by rows.
The odd-by-odd case differs only in the final return. The snake traversal already visits every cell exactly once and ends at (n,m). We attach a teleporter there and append (1,1) as the final position.
A subtle detail is the ending location of the snake. The construction depends on where the traversal finishes.
For even n, the final visited cell before returning is (1,m) if m is even, or (n,m) if m is odd. But because nis even, the alternating traversal still guarantees adjacency back to(1,1)` through the constructed order.
For odd-by-odd grids, the final cell of row-snaking is always (n,m) because the last row index is odd.
Another easy mistake is forgetting that the output must contain exactly nm + 1 visited positions. The final return to (1,1) counts as an additional step.
