We then simulate a long sequence of $k$ steps. At step $i$, we look at a fixed pair of positions determined cyclically: index $i \bmod n$ in the first array and index $i \bmod m$ in the second array. If the value in the first array is larger than the value in the second array, we swap them. Otherwise, nothing happens.
The key difficulty is that $k$ can be as large as $10^{18}$, so we cannot simulate operations directly. Each operation is extremely cheap, but the number of operations is far beyond any linear or even logarithmic simulation.
The constraints on $n+m$ being at most $2 \cdot 10^5$ suggest that anything depending on the number of distinct elements or positions is acceptable, but anything depending on $k$ directly is impossible.
A subtle aspect of the process is that each operation only touches one position in each array, and those positions repeat periodically. This means each pair $(i \bmod n, i \bmod m)$ repeats with period $\mathrm{lcm}(n, m)$. A naive mistake is to assume we can simulate only one full period and multiply, but the state changes during the period, so repetition is not independent.
A second common failure case is assuming monotonic sorting happens within each array independently. That is false: elements only move through swaps across arrays, not within arrays, so structure is interleaved.
Approaches
A direct simulation performs all $k$ steps. Each step is $O(1)$, so total complexity is $O(k)$, which is impossible since $k$ goes up to $10^{18}$.
Even noticing periodicity of index pairs does not immediately help, because the array state changes after every swap. The evolution depends on the full history, so we cannot compress time by cycle length.
The crucial observation is to stop thinking in terms of time and instead think in terms of values. Each operation compares two numbers and ensures that the smaller one tends to move into the second array at that position, while the larger moves into the first array. This behaves like a constrained bubble process between two cyclic buffers.
Now focus on a single position pair interaction. Every time a pair is compared, the larger element moves into the first array position and the smaller into the second array position. This means large values tend to drift toward array $a$, and small values toward array $b$, but only through repeated scheduled comparisons.
The key structural insight is that each index pair $(i \bmod n, i \bmod m)$ is visited repeatedly, and the system behaves like a deterministic sorting network on a bipartite cyclic graph. Since all values are distinct, each comparison has a deterministic direction of exchange, and the system gradually pushes larger elements toward stable positions in $a$ and smaller ones into $b$.
Instead of simulating $k$ steps, we observe that after sufficiently many operations, the system reaches a stable configuration where for every index pair that is visited infinitely often, the invariant $a[i] \le b[j]$ holds for all interacting pairs in their long-run alignment. Once no swap condition is triggered, the system stops changing.
Thus the problem reduces to determining how many swaps can possibly affect each element. Each element participates in a predictable number of comparisons with its cyclic partners. The final state depends only on whether it is large enough to survive being pushed into $a$ or small enough to remain in $b$ after all effective comparisons. This can be computed by simulating only the necessary number of meaningful comparisons, which is bounded by $O(n+m)$, since each swap strictly moves a value closer to its final monotone position in the global ordering.
We therefore simulate the process, but we only need to process up to $k$ effective interactions, and we can break early once the system stabilizes. Since each swap moves an inversion across the partition boundary, total swaps are bounded by $O((n+m)^2)$ worst-case but are practically linear in this constrained interaction graph. With the additional structure that each position pair is fixed and repeats, we instead simulate by iterating through the cyclic schedule once per pass and stopping when no swaps occur or after a small number of passes sufficient to settle all inversions.
This leads to a fast simulation using repeated sweeps over the cyclic pattern, with early termination.

Algorithm Walkthrough
We simulate the process in rounds over the cyclic index pattern, but we never exceed $k$ total operations.
- Initialize a pointer $i = 0$ and track remaining steps $k$. The pointer cycles through positions in both arrays using modulo arithmetic.
The reason is that the process is fully determined by the global sequence of index pairs, so we do not need to explicitly build it. 2. In each step, compute $x = a[i \bmod n]$ and $y = b[i \bmod m]$.

This is valid because once no swap happens during a complete cycle of the interaction pattern, every comparison sees already ordered pairs, and further repetition cannot change the configuration.
After termination, arrays $a$ and $b$ are returned.
Why it works
The process always exchanges elements only when they violate the ordering constraint across a specific interacting pair. Each swap reduces a global inversion measure defined over all compared pairs $(a[i], b[j])$ that are aligned by the cyclic schedule. Since all values are distinct, each swap strictly decreases this measure.
Because the system has a finite number of possible states and each swap reduces a monotone potential, the process converges to a fixed point independent of the remaining large value of $k$, as long as $k$ is large enough to reach stability. If $k$ is smaller, we only observe a prefix of this convergent trajectory.
