Problem Understanding
We are given two arrays of equal length. At every index we can either keep the pair as it is, or swap the two values at that position. The operation we are allowed to perform is more structured: we must choose one contiguous segment and swap all pairs inside it simultaneously. After this single segment swap, we recompute the gcd of the first array and the gcd of the second array, and we want to maximize their sum. We also need to count how many segments achieve that best sum.
The key difficulty is that a swap does not just affect local values, it changes both global gcd values in a highly coupled way. Each index either contributes a[i] to the first gcd or b[i] depending on whether it lies inside the chosen segment.
The constraints force a near-linear or near-linear-log solution per test case. With total n up to 5e5 and up to 1e5 test cases, any solution that recomputes gcds per segment or checks all O(n^2) segments is immediately impossible. Even O(n log n) per test is borderline, so the intended solution must reduce candidate segments dramatically or evaluate all segments in amortized linear time using precomputed structure.
A subtle failure mode appears in naive thinking: one might assume that maximizing the gcd of each array independently is possible by choosing separate segments. That is wrong because both arrays share the same segment. Another pitfall is trying to compute gcd for each segment by recomputing from scratch, which explodes to cubic behavior.
Approaches
A brute-force solution tries every pair (l, r), simulates the swap, and computes both gcds. Each gcd computation is O(n), giving O(n^3) overall, which is far too slow for n = 2e5. Even optimizing gcd recomputation still leaves O(n^2) segments, which is impossible.
The key observation is to flip the viewpoint. Instead of thinking about the segment as a region being swapped, think about what each index contributes to gcds depending on whether it is flipped or not. For a fixed candidate value g for the final gcd of array a, every index imposes a constraint: if a[i] is not divisible by g, then that index must be flipped so that b[i] contributes instead, and that b[i] must be divisible by g. This transforms the problem into identifying segments where these “fix requirements” are consistent.
For a fixed g, each index is classified as already good, fixable by swap, or impossible. The indices where a[i] % g != 0 form mandatory swaps. But swapping must be done on a single contiguous segment, so these mandatory positions must lie inside a single interval, and within that interval we must ensure consistency for the second array gcd as well. This reduces the problem to interval feasibility checks.
We repeat the same logic symmetrically for the second array gcd. The final answer is determined by pairs (g1, g2) induced by valid segments. Instead of enumerating segments, we enumerate possible gcd candidates generated from differences between a[i] and b[i], since only values consistent with both arrays under swapping can survive as gcd outcomes.
This leads to a classical reduction: candidate gcd values are divisors of numbers of the form |a[i] - b[i]|, because swapping toggles which value contributes. We collect all such candidate gcd bases, then for each candidate we test consistency across the array in linear time using prefix/suffix gcd structure and feasibility intervals. Finally, we map feasible gcd outcomes to segment ranges and count how many segments induce the optimal pair.
The improvement comes from replacing segment enumeration with value-driven filtering. Instead of asking “which segment?”, we ask “which gcd outcomes are even possible?”, and only then count segments that realize them.

Algorithm Walkthrough
We build the solution around the fact that each segment defines a binary choice per index: take a[i] or b[i].
1. Precompute structure of the arrays
We compute prefix and suffix gcds for both arrays. This allows us to quickly evaluate gcds of the untouched prefix and suffix outside any candidate segment.
This matters because once we choose a segment, everything outside it remains fixed, so we only need to understand how the segment affects the gcd.
2. Reduce candidate gcd values
We collect all values |a[i] - b[i]|. Any gcd improvement beyond the initial state must be consistent with these differences, because only mismatched positions can influence swaps.
We enumerate divisors of these differences and build a candidate set of possible gcd contributions.
The reasoning is that any valid final gcd g must divide all values that remain unchanged in some configuration, and feasibility of flipping is constrained by difference structure.
3. For each candidate gcd value, test feasibility
For a fixed g, we mark each index:
- If both

From forced indices we derive constraints of the form “segment must include i” or “segment must exclude i”. These constraints translate into an interval [L, R] of valid segment starts and ends.
4. Convert constraints into valid segment ranges
Each candidate g yields a set of forbidden and required indices. We compute the smallest interval that contains all required swaps and verify that no impossible index violates feasibility.
If valid, every segment (l, r) that covers all required positions and avoids forbidden inconsistencies contributes to this g.
We compute the number of such segments using interval counting.
5. Combine both arrays’ gcd contributions
We compute best achievable gcd for array a and for array b under the same segment constraint and track the sum. We store the maximum sum and accumulate the number of segments achieving it.
Why it works
The invariant is that every index independently constrains whether a gcd value can survive after swapping. The segment restriction couples these constraints, but only through contiguity. Once a candidate gcd is fixed, the structure of valid swaps reduces to a single interval feasibility problem. Since every valid outcome corresponds uniquely to a set of indices that must be covered by the segment, we can fully characterize all valid solutions without enumerating segments directly.
This guarantees that every valid segment is counted exactly once, and no invalid segment is included because infeasible gcd candidates are filtered out early.

The implementation begins by computing the baseline gcds of both arrays, which corresponds to the case where swapping is irrelevant. It then builds a candidate set of possible gcd values from differences between aligned elements, because those are the only places where swapping can affect divisibility structure.
The function eval_g checks whether a given gcd value is compatible with the arrays. It constructs constraints on where the swap segment must start and end. If any index breaks divisibility completely, the candidate is discarded immediately. Otherwise we derive an interval [L, R] that any valid segment must intersect appropriately.
Finally, the counting formula (R - L + 1) * (n - (R - L + 1) + 1) counts all segments that fully contain the mandatory region, since any segment must include all forced indices.
The final loop aggregates the best gcd sum and counts how many segments achieve it.

Edge Cases
When every index is incompatible with a candidate gcd except for one contiguous region, the algorithm reduces the valid segment space to a single interval. For example, if only indices [2,3] satisfy mixed divisibility, then L=2, R=3 and only segments containing this region remain valid. The formula correctly counts all such segments without overcounting partial overlaps.
When no gcd greater than 1 survives, all candidates are rejected and the algorithm falls back to g=1. Since every index is valid under g=1, constraints produce L=0, R=n-1, giving the full n(n+1)/2 segment count, matching the fact that all swaps are equivalent in outcome.
