After this process stabilizes, the graph contains an edge from $u$ to $v$ exactly when $v$ is reachable from $u$ in the original graph.
So the final graph is not about immediate edges anymore, it is about reachability.
On this completed graph, we are asked to consider simple paths, meaning sequences of distinct vertices where every consecutive pair has a directed edge in this final reachability graph. Among all simple paths that are as long as possible, we want the one with the smallest possible sum of vertex values.
The key difficulty is that the graph can become very dense after closure, up to $n^2$ edges implicitly, so we cannot explicitly build it.
The constraints imply that any solution must be essentially linear or near-linear in $n + m$ per test case. Anything like Floyd-Warshall or explicit transitive closure is impossible.
A few subtle cases tend to break naive thinking.
One issue is treating the final graph as if it is arbitrary dense connectivity and trying to run longest path directly; cycles make that meaningless. For example, a cycle like $1 \to 2 \to 3 \to 1$ turns into a fully mutually reachable component after closure, and inside it every pair becomes connected both ways. A naive longest path approach may incorrectly revisit nodes or mis-handle cycles.
Another issue is assuming edge count explosion matters operationally. In reality, we never construct the closure graph explicitly.
A third subtlety is that once closure is applied, the graph becomes “reachability-complete”, so reasoning in terms of original edges alone becomes misleading unless we compress structure properly.
Approaches
The brute-force idea is straightforward: explicitly build the closure graph by repeatedly adding edges for every length-two path, until no change occurs. This is essentially computing transitive closure. Even if implemented with adjacency sets, each iteration may add $O(n^2)$ edges, and each check of missing edges requires scanning neighbors. In dense cases, this quickly becomes cubic or worse, which is impossible under the constraints.
The key observation is that the closure only changes reachability, not the structure of strongly connected components. If two vertices can reach each other originally, then after closure they become mutually connected, forming a complete directed structure. This suggests compressing the graph into SCCs first.
After contracting strongly connected components, the resulting condensation graph is a DAG. In this DAG, reachability defines a partial order. The closure step effectively turns this DAG into its transitive closure, meaning every ancestor connects directly to every descendant.
This transformation simplifies the problem: any simple path in the final graph corresponds to choosing a chain of SCCs in the original condensation DAG, and within each SCC we can traverse all its vertices exactly once because every vertex inside is mutually reachable.
So the problem reduces to finding a maximum-weight path in a DAG where each node represents an SCC, and the node weight is the number of original vertices in that SCC. Among all maximum-size paths, we minimize the sum of vertex values.

Algorithm Walkthrough
- Compute strongly connected components of the original graph using Kosaraju or Tarjan.
This groups vertices so that within each group every vertex can reach every other vertex. 2. Build a condensation graph where each SCC becomes a single node.
For every original edge $u \to v$, if they belong to different SCCs, add an edge between their components. 3. For each SCC, compute two values: its size and the sum of its vertex values.
These represent the contribution if we traverse that SCC fully in a path. 4. Since SCC condensation is a DAG, compute a topological order of SCC nodes. 5. Run dynamic programming over this DAG.
For each SCC node $u$, maintain a pair $(best_size[u], best_cost[u])$, meaning the best achievable total path size starting at $u$, and among those, the minimum cost. 6. Transition along edges $u \to v$ by updating:

and choose lexicographically best results: maximize size first, minimize cost. 7. The final answer is the best pair over all SCC nodes.
The crucial point is that because closure makes every reachable pair directly connected, once we decide to include an SCC in a path, we can traverse all its vertices before moving on without losing generality. The path structure is entirely determined by SCC order.
Why it works
The SCC condensation graph is a DAG, and every simple path in the final transitive closure corresponds exactly to a chain in this DAG. Inside each SCC, mutual reachability ensures we can reorder traversal arbitrarily and include all vertices without breaking simplicity. The DP over the DAG preserves optimal substructure: any optimal chain must extend an optimal suffix chain, and the lexicographic comparison ensures that among equal-length chains we always prefer the one with minimum total vertex sum.

Edge Cases
