The naive solution is to simulate every possible pointer move. You would start at cell 0, step through every cell in order, press Shift, and release it to paint cells. This works for small inputs but is infeasible here because the largest segment or gap can be up to $10^9$ and the pointer starts at 0, making a literal simulation prohibitively expensive.

The key observation is that we never need to visit white cells outside segments. We only care about moving from the current pointer position to the next cell that we want to paint. Once we enter a segment, holding Shift and moving to the right end of a chosen painting range is optimal. Therefore, the problem reduces to deciding how many cells to paint in each segment starting from the leftmost available segment and summing the required moves: distance to the segment plus two for Shift operations plus painted cells.

For each segment, the cost to paint $x$ cells starting at $l_i$ is $(l_i - \text{current pointer}) + 1 + (x-1) + 1$. The first term is the pointer movement from its current position to $l_i$, then pressing Shift, then moving across $x-1$ cells while holding Shift, then releasing Shift. Simplifying, this becomes $(l_i - \text{current pointer}) + x + 2$. We can greedily take as many cells as needed from the current segment until $k$ is reached.
