Problem Understanding
We have a tree with $n$ vertices and $n-1$ edges. We must assign a non-negative integer weight to every edge. Some constraints are given in the form $(u,v,x)$, meaning that the XOR of all edge weights along the unique path between $u$ and $v$ must equal $x$.
The first task is to determine whether such an assignment exists at all. If it does, we must output one valid assignment. Among all valid assignments, we must minimize the XOR of all edge weights in the entire tree.
The tree contains up to $2.5 \cdot 10^5$ vertices, and there can be up to $2.5 \cdot 10^5$ constraints. Any algorithm that processes paths explicitly is immediately too expensive. A single path can contain $O(n)$ edges, so checking every constraint naively could require $O(nq)$ work, which is around $6 \cdot 10^{10}$ operations in the worst case.
The size limits strongly suggest that every vertex and every query must be processed only a constant number of times. Solutions around $O((n+q)\alpha(n))$ or $O((n+q)\log n)$ are acceptable.
A subtle point is that the constraints do not directly specify edge weights. They only specify XOR values on paths. Different edge assignments can generate exactly the same set of path XORs. The optimization objective, minimizing the XOR of all edge weights, introduces another layer of structure.
Consider a simple chain:
1 -- 2 -- 3
with one constraint:
1 3 5
The only requirement is:
a12 XOR a23 = 5
Many assignments satisfy this. For example:

All are valid. A solution that treats edge values as uniquely determined would be incorrect.
Another easy mistake is missing contradictory constraints. Suppose:

The same path is required to have XOR both 1 and 2. No solution exists.
A third trap comes from the optimization target. A valid assignment is not necessarily optimal. Consider a tree with one edge:
1 -- 2
and no constraints. Assigning weight 7 is valid, but the XOR of all edges is then 7. Assigning weight 0 is also valid and gives the minimum possible answer.
The optimization condition cannot be ignored.
Approaches
A brute-force viewpoint is to assign values to edges and verify every path constraint. Even if we restricted each edge to only a few candidate values, the search space would still be exponential in $n$. With up to $250000$ edges, this is hopeless.
The key observation comes from a standard trick for XOR constraints on trees.
Root the tree arbitrarily, say at vertex 1. Define a value $p[v]$ for every vertex:
$$p[v] = \text{XOR of edge weights on the path from root to } v$$
Then the XOR on the path between two vertices becomes
$$p[u] \oplus p[v]$$
because the common root-to-LCA portion cancels out.
This completely removes the tree from the constraints.
Every query
$$(u,v,x)$$
becomes
$$p[u] \oplus p[v] = x$$
Now we only need to assign one value to each vertex.
This is a graph of XOR equations. Each query connects two vertices with a required XOR difference. Such systems are typically solved with DFS, BFS, or DSU with parity-like information.
The next question is the optimization objective.
Once the vertex values $p[v]$ are known, every tree edge $(parent,child)$ has weight
$$p[parent] \oplus p[child]$$
The XOR of all edge weights is:
$$\bigoplus_{(a,b)\in E}(p[a]\oplus p[b])$$
Each non-root vertex appears exactly once in its parent edge. Every internal vertex appears twice overall and cancels. The root appears once less than its degree because it has no parent.
After cancellation, the total XOR of all edge weights equals
$$p[1]\oplus p[2]\oplus\cdots\oplus p[n]$$
This identity is the heart of the problem.
The query graph only determines XOR differences. Inside one connected component of the query graph, we may XOR every $p[v]$ by the same value $t$, and all constraints remain valid:
$$(p[u]\oplus t)\oplus(p[v]\oplus t)=p[u]\oplus p[v]$$
So each connected component contributes one free variable.
The total XOR of all edge weights becomes the XOR of one value from every component. We can choose those free shifts to make the final XOR equal zero whenever there are at least two components. If there is exactly one component, the total XOR is fixed.
This leads directly to the optimal construction.

Algorithm Walkthrough
Step 1
Build a graph containing only the XOR constraints.
For every query $(u,v,x)$, add an undirected edge between $u$ and $v$ labeled with $x$.
The equation represented by this edge is:

Step 2
Traverse each connected component of the constraint graph.
Choose an arbitrary starting vertex and set its value $p=0$.
Whenever we traverse an edge

If $v$ has not been assigned yet, assign this value and continue.
If $v$ already has a value, verify that the equation is satisfied. Otherwise the system is inconsistent and the answer is "No".
This computes one valid assignment of all vertex potentials.
Step 3
For every connected component, compute

These values describe how each component contributes to the final global XOR.
Step 4
Let the components be $C_1,C_2,\dots,C_k$.
If $k=1$, there is no freedom left. The assignment from Step 2 is already optimal.
If $k\ge 2$, choose shifts so that the final XOR becomes zero.
Keep all components unchanged except the last one.

Why it works
The DFS on the query graph constructs values $p[v]$ satisfying every equation $p[u]\oplus p[v]=x$. If a contradiction is detected, no assignment of vertex potentials exists, and thus no edge assignment exists either.
Every valid edge assignment corresponds to a valid potential assignment and vice versa, because edge weights are exactly XOR differences between adjacent potentials.
Within a connected component of the query graph, adding the same constant to every potential leaves all pairwise XOR differences unchanged. These are the only degrees of freedom. When at least two components exist, one component shift can always be chosen to cancel the global XOR entirely. Since XOR values are non-negative integers, zero is the smallest possible value. Thus the constructed solution is optimal.

The first graph built by the code is the constraint graph, not the tree. Its purpose is to solve the XOR equations for the vertex potentials.
The BFS assigns values to vertices and simultaneously checks consistency. Whenever a vertex is reached through two different paths, both derivations must produce the same potential. If not, the system of equations is impossible.
The component XOR values are stored because they determine the contribution of each component to the global objective. Only after all components are known can we decide which shift to apply.
The final BFS on the tree exists solely to recover edge weights. At that point all potentials are already fixed.
A common implementation mistake is trying to shift a component before all component XORs are known. The optimal shift depends on the XOR of every component, so it must be done after the entire constraint graph has been processed.
Another easy mistake is forgetting that isolated vertices are valid components. Such vertices correspond to completely free potentials and are exactly what allows the global XOR to be adjusted.
