Movement happens along undirected edges. There is an additional constraint: if the hero traverses an edge from $u$ to $v$, he cannot immediately traverse the same edge back from $v$ to $u$. This prevents trivial oscillation but does not prevent revisiting nodes through other edges.
The goal is to determine the minimum starting power such that there exists some valid traversal order of caves that allows defeating all monsters.
The graph is connected and relatively small in total size across tests, but still large enough that exponential exploration is impossible. With up to 1000 nodes and 2000 edges total, any solution that tries to enumerate all paths or permutations of visit orders is infeasible. Even $O(n^2)$ per state or naive shortest path expansions over power states will be too slow if repeated inside a search.
A subtle difficulty is that the traversal restriction does not meaningfully constrain reachability in practice because every node has at least degree 2, so the graph never forces a dead end. The restriction mainly prevents immediate backtracking along the same edge, but any optimal strategy can be viewed as walking through a spanning exploration structure without relying on edge reversals.

A naive idea is to try DFS from node 1 with current power and greedily visit any reachable unvisited node. This fails because a locally reachable cave might not be globally optimal to visit early. For example, a low threshold but low reward cave can block access to high reward caves that must be visited earlier to accumulate power.
Another incorrect approach is sorting nodes by $a_i$ and attempting to visit in that order while checking reachability dynamically. This fails because reachability depends on already cleared nodes and graph structure, not just sorted thresholds.
The key difficulty is that the order of visiting nodes affects both feasibility (power constraints) and future feasibility (power growth unlocking other nodes). This is a global ordering problem constrained by graph connectivity.
Approaches
A brute-force viewpoint is to consider all possible orders in which caves can be cleared. For each ordering, we simulate whether it is possible to traverse the graph in that sequence, respecting connectivity and power constraints. This is immediately infeasible since there are $n!$ permutations, and even validating one ordering requires graph reachability reasoning. This grows far beyond any limit once $n$ exceeds even small values.
We need to reduce the problem into something that avoids explicit ordering enumeration but still captures the dependency structure: a cave can only be visited when its threshold is satisfied, but visiting it increases power and unlocks other caves.
The key observation is that if we fix an initial power $P$, we can treat the problem as a reachability process: we start from node 1, and we are allowed to enter a node $v$ only if it is reachable through already visited nodes and $P > a_v$. Once visited, $v$ increases power by $b_v$, potentially unlocking more nodes.
This suggests a feasibility check for a fixed $P$, which can be implemented as a best-first expansion process. From any currently reachable set of cleared nodes, we can expand to any adjacent unvisited node whose threshold is satisfied.
However, naive BFS from the current frontier is still insufficient because reachability is not just adjacency, it depends on being able to walk through already cleared nodes. This naturally leads to maintaining a frontier of reachable cleared nodes and expanding outward, but we must ensure we never “forget” nodes that are reachable but not yet affordable.
This is where the graph structure and monotonicity combine: once a node becomes reachable in terms of connectivity, it stays reachable; the only dynamic condition is whether its threshold becomes satisfied as power increases. This allows us to treat the process as repeatedly selecting any currently reachable node whose $a_i$ is satisfied, and adding it to a pool that expands reachability.
To efficiently decide the minimum initial power, we binary search over $P$. For each candidate $P$, we simulate whether we can clear all nodes using a greedy feasibility process guided by a priority structure over reachable-but-not-yet-cleared nodes.
The final structure resembles a constrained expansion process: maintain a set of reachable nodes, and among them repeatedly take any node whose threshold is satisfied, collect its reward, and expand reachability.

Algorithm Walkthrough
We solve the problem by binary searching the initial power $P$. For each guess, we check whether it is possible to clear all caves.
- Fix a candidate initial power $P$. Start from cave 1, mark it visited, and set current power to $P$. This is valid since cave 1 has no monster.
- Maintain a structure of all caves that are reachable from the visited set via graph edges, but not yet visited. This is computed by expanding from visited nodes using adjacency lists.
- Among all reachable unvisited caves, we only consider those whose threshold $a_i$ is strictly less than current power. These are the only caves we are allowed to clear at this moment.
- If there is no such cave but there still exist reachable unvisited caves, the process stops for this $P$ since we are blocked by insufficient power. This indicates failure for this candidate.
- Otherwise, choose any available cave whose threshold condition is satisfied, mark it as visited, and add its reward $b_i$ to current power. The choice among multiple available caves can be arbitrary because any valid sequence of taking feasible nodes preserves reachability expansion; we only need existence, not optimal ordering at this stage.
- After visiting a cave, expand the reachable frontier from it using its neighbors, since new nodes may become reachable.
- Repeat until either all caves are visited or no progress can be made.
- If all caves are visited, the candidate $P$ is feasible. Otherwise it is not.
The binary search works because feasibility is monotone: if a power $P$ allows completion, any higher power also allows completion since all constraints $P > a_i$ only become easier to satisfy and rewards are unchanged in structure.
Why it works
At any point, the algorithm maintains a frontier of all nodes reachable from already cleared caves. The only restriction is whether their thresholds are satisfied by current power. Because visiting a node only increases power and never reduces reachability, the set of reachable nodes grows monotonically, and the set of affordable nodes also grows monotonically as power increases. This guarantees that if a sequence exists, the greedy feasibility simulation will eventually find a valid ordering, since any valid solution can be transformed into one that always picks an available reachable node without losing future accessibility.
