The most important observation is that parity behaves differently for odd and even numbers of moves, and the final formula depends entirely on whether n is odd or even.

Approaches

The most direct approach is brute force. We could recursively generate every valid sequence of turns, track the robot's position, and store all reachable endpoints in a set.

This is correct because every valid movement sequence is explored exactly once. Unfortunately, after the first move there are always two choices, left or right. The number of paths grows like 4 · 2^(n-1).

For n = 1000, this is astronomically large and completely impossible to compute.

The key observation comes from looking at the structure of the movement.

After the first move, directions alternate between horizontal and vertical forever. This means the x-coordinate and y-coordinate are built independently.

Suppose n is even.

Then exactly n/2 moves are horizontal and n/2 moves are vertical. Each coordinate is the sum of n/2 values equal to +1 or -1.

A sum of k values ±1 can take:
