The constraints force a careful combinatorial approach. With $n \le 2000$, a quadratic or slightly super-quadratic solution is acceptable, but anything cubic in $n$ is immediately too slow. The coordinate range up to $10^9$ means we cannot enumerate rectangles directly in geometric space, so all valid solutions must be derived from combinatorics over point orderings.
A subtle issue appears when thinking in terms of “choosing representatives” of each color. It is tempting to pick one point per color and count rectangles around those chosen points. That approach overcounts in a complicated way because different choices of representatives correspond to overlapping sets of rectangles, and inclusion-exclusion becomes intractable.

Approaches
A brute-force idea starts by trying all possible rectangles. There are $O(n^4)$ ways to choose two x-coordinates and two y-coordinates, and checking each rectangle against all points costs $O(n)$, leading to $O(n^5)$, which is completely infeasible.
Even if we reduce rectangle enumeration to only coordinates that appear in points, we still get $O(n^4)$. The bottleneck is checking whether every color appears inside the rectangle.
The key structural observation is that the x-coordinates define a natural ordering that allows us to reduce the problem to a two-pointer window on x. If we fix a vertical strip $[x_l, x_r]$, the problem becomes purely one-dimensional in y, but still with a global constraint across colors.
Inside a fixed x-window, each color contributes a set of y-coordinates. A rectangle $[x_l, x_r] \times [y_1, y_2]$ is valid if and only if for every color, there exists at least one of its points inside the rectangle. That condition can be rewritten using per-color intervals in y: each color induces a minimum y and maximum y inside the x-window, and the rectangle must intersect all such intervals.
This transforms the problem from “cover at least one point per color” into “choose a y-interval that intersects all color-intervals”.
The remaining challenge is that as we slide the x-window, these per-color y-intervals change dynamically. Since $n$ is small, we can maintain them incrementally and recompute global constraints efficiently using a logarithmic structure over colors.

Algorithm Walkthrough
We sort points by x-coordinate and use a two-pointer window $[l, r]$ over this ordering.
For each window, we maintain per-color information about the y-coordinates of points whose x lies inside the window. From this we derive, for each color $c$, the minimum and maximum y inside the window, denoted $\text{minY}[c]$ and $\text{maxY}[c]$.
- Fix a right boundary $r$ and expand it step by step over sorted points.
- For each $r$, initialize a left pointer $l = 0$, and gradually move $l$ to the right, maintaining the window $[l, r]$.
- When a point enters or leaves the window, update only the color it belongs to. We maintain the current $\text{minY}[c]$ and $\text{maxY}[c]$ for that color.
- Across all colors, we maintain two global values. One is $A = \min_c \text{maxY}[c]$, and the other is $B = \max_c \text{minY}[c]$. These capture the tightest vertical constraints imposed by all colors.
- For the current window, any valid rectangle must satisfy $y_1 \le A$ and $y_2 \ge B$, otherwise some color interval would be missed.
- We now count how many integer pairs $(y_1, y_2)$ satisfy $0 \le y_1 < y_2 \le L$, $y_1 \le A$, and $y_2 \ge B$. This is computed in constant time by splitting cases based on the relative position of $A$ and $B$, summing over all valid $y_1$ and $y_2$.
- We add this count to the answer for each $[l, r]$, then shrink the window from the left.
The efficiency comes from the fact that updates only affect one color at a time, and global extrema over colors can be maintained efficiently.
Why it works
For a fixed x-window, each color contributes an interval $[\text{minY}[c], \text{maxY}[c]]$. A vertical segment $[y_1, y_2]$ contains at least one point of color $c$ if and only if it intersects this interval. Therefore, validity across all colors is equivalent to intersecting all these intervals simultaneously.
Intersecting all intervals reduces to ensuring the segment starts no higher than the smallest upper endpoint and ends no lower than the largest lower endpoint. This reduces a multi-color constraint into two global scalar constraints, which is what makes enumeration over y possible.
