If not, it means it will encounter heterogeneous structure and thus will stick at first contact, contributing no deletions.
We also maintain a count of surviving blocks. When a block fully overwrites a region, we decrement the number of distinct surviving blocks corresponding to the overwritten ids.
The crucial insight is that vaporization only happens when the new block dominates a region completely and uniformly; any mixed contact prevents further downward propagation and reduces the interaction to a simple attachment.
This reduces the problem to range queries and range assignments over a segment tree.
