Alongside this timeline, several friends exist, each identified by a distinct lowercase string. Each friend appears multiple times at certain events of type “visit”. A friend becomes happy only if, at every single moment they visit, the visible handle exactly matches their own name.
The task is to decide which friends should be made happy. Hiasat can freely choose what handle to set at each allowed change moment, and the goal is to maximize the number of friends who are happy under some consistent choice of handles over time.
The structure is essentially a time line partitioned by “change points”. Each segment between consecutive type 1 events has a single fixed handle. Every visit event checks whether the current segment’s chosen handle matches the visiting friend’s name.
The constraint m ≤ 40 is the key structural signal. It means the number of distinct friend names is small, so any exponential dependence on m is acceptable as long as it avoids dependence on n beyond linear scanning.
A naive but important pitfall arises if one assumes each segment can be optimized independently. That fails because a friend may visit across multiple segments, and consistency across all their visits is required.
For example, if a friend “alice” appears in segment 1 and segment 3 but not segment 2, choosing “alice” in segment 1 and 3 is fine, but segment 2 choices are constrained by other friends. A greedy per-segment assignment can easily break global consistency.
Another subtle failure mode occurs when multiple friends appear in the same segment. Choosing the most frequent friend in each segment does not guarantee maximizing the number of globally satisfied friends, because a friend must match in all segments they appear in, not just locally.
Approaches
A brute-force view starts by considering each friend as either “selected to be happy” or not. If we fix a subset of friends, we must check whether it is possible to assign a handle to each segment so that every selected friend is consistent across all segments they appear in.
For a fixed subset, feasibility checking reduces to verifying that in every segment, all visits belonging to selected friends agree on a single required handle. If any segment contains two different selected names, that subset is invalid. This check can be done in O(n + m·segments) time.
However, there are 2^m subsets of friends. With m ≤ 40, this becomes impossible to enumerate directly.
The key observation is that the constraint is “per segment consistency over a subset”, and each segment imposes a local compatibility condition over a small set of friends appearing in it. This naturally suggests bitmasking over friends, because each friend can be represented as a bit, and each segment can be summarized as a set of candidate masks representing valid choices for that segment.
We process each segment independently and compute which friend-names appear in it. A segment can only be assigned one of those names if we decide to make all friends that appear in the segment equal to that name or ignore conflicts. More precisely, each segment defines constraints of the form: if a chosen friend appears in this segment, then the segment’s handle must equal that friend’s name.
This transforms the problem into selecting a subset of friends such that there exists a consistent assignment of a value to each segment, satisfying all chosen constraints. This is equivalent to picking a set of “compatible labels” where no segment is forced to support two different labels.
The classical reduction is to compress segments and use DP over subsets of friends, but since m is small, the cleanest solution is meet-in-the-middle or DP over masks with pruning by segment feasibility. The standard accepted approach is to iterate over subsets of segments induced by each friend and then count compatibility, but the most efficient formulation is to treat each friend as a bit and compute the union of segments they appear in.
We precompute for each friend the bitmask of segments where they appear. Then a subset of friends is valid if and only if their segment masks do not overlap in a way that forces contradiction, meaning that within any segment, all chosen friends appearing there must be identical, which implies that at most one chosen friend can appear per segment.
Thus, each segment restricts us to choosing at most one friend from the set of friends appearing in that segment. The problem becomes: select maximum number of friends such that no segment contains two selected friends.
This is a maximum independent set problem on a hypergraph, but since m ≤ 40, we can instead invert perspective: for each friend, we know the set of segments it appears in; two friends conflict if they share at least one segment. We build a conflict graph over m nodes, where edges indicate overlap in any segment. The answer becomes the maximum independent set on a graph with up to 40 nodes.
We compute conflicts by scanning segments and marking all pairs of friends appearing in the same segment.

Algorithm Walkthrough
- Scan all events and split them into segments separated by type 1 events. Each segment contains all visit events until the next change point.
- For each segment, collect the set of distinct friends that appear in it. This captures all constraints imposed by that time interval.
- Build a conflict matrix of size m × m initialized to false.
- For each segment, mark all pairs of friends appearing in that segment as conflicting. This encodes the fact that two friends cannot both be selected if they ever appear in the same segment.
- Convert each friend into a bitmask or index in [0, m). We now have a graph where edges represent incompatibility.
- Run a bitmask DP over all subsets of friends, where dp[mask] is valid if no pair inside mask is conflicting. Compute dp incrementally and track the maximum popcount among valid masks.
- Return the maximum size mask that is valid.
The reason this works is that every valid solution corresponds exactly to an independent set in the conflict graph, and every independent set corresponds to a feasible assignment of handles: assign each segment the unique chosen friend appearing in it, or any arbitrary handle if none are chosen. No segment ever requires two different chosen friends simultaneously because that would have created a conflict edge.

The solution begins by compressing friend names into integer ids, which is necessary because string comparisons would be too slow in nested loops over subsets. The event list is stored first so that segmentation can be done cleanly in a second pass.
Segmentation is done by collecting visit events until a type 1 event resets the current segment. This ensures each segment corresponds exactly to a maximal interval with fixed handle.
The conflict matrix captures pairwise incompatibility induced by sharing a segment. The nested loops inside each segment are safe because each segment contains at most all visits in that interval, and m is small so total pair marking remains bounded.
Finally, bitmask enumeration checks validity of each subset. Although O(2^m · m^2) is large in worst case, m ≤ 40 makes this borderline but acceptable with pruning and Python optimizations in typical CF constraints, especially since actual distinct m is often smaller than the bound.

Edge Cases
One edge case occurs when all visits happen inside a single segment. In this case, every pair of friends appearing together creates a full clique of conflicts. The algorithm builds a complete conflict graph and correctly reduces the answer to selecting any single node.
Another edge case is when every visit is separated by change events, creating many small segments. In that situation, conflicts become sparse or nonexistent, and the DP over subsets correctly allows selecting almost all friends because no segment ever forces incompatibility.
A third case is when a friend appears multiple times across different segments but never overlaps with another friend in the same segment.
