We only need to push two units from source to sink, so we can repeatedly compute shortest augmenting paths and send flow along them. Why it works
Each augmentation selects the cheapest available route in the current residual graph. Once a path is used, its edges are removed from future consideration in the forward direction, forcing the second path to either avoid overlap or pay for alternative detours. Because we always choose globally shortest augmenting paths under correct reduced costs, any alternative pairing of two paths can be transformed into a sequence of augmentations without increasing cost. This ensures the final solution is the minimum possible sum over all valid edge-disjoint path pairs.
