Algorithm Walkthrough

We then process nodes in increasing distance order.
For each new node $u$, we merge its basis into a global basis maintained for the centroid. After each insertion, we recompute the maximum XOR value achievable under the current intersection basis. This is done using standard greedy XOR construction over the maintained basis.
We maintain an array for this centroid where index $d$ stores the current best value after including all nodes with distance at most $d$. We then accumulate contributions of these values into the final answer for the centroid.
Finally, since each node acts as centroid only once and appears in $O(\log n)$ centroid levels, we add each node’s contribution weighted by how many centers use it at each distance level, and combine results into the final answer per center.
Why it works
The centroid decomposition ensures that any path in the tree is split into logarithmically many components, so each pair of nodes is considered together only $O(\log n)$ times.
