Algorithm Walkthrough

If it succeeds, v becomes active and contributes its own DP distribution.

If current DP of u is f and child v contributes g when activated, we update f by combining all ways to split k infected nodes between already processed children and the new child contribution. This is a standard knapsack merge where sizes add.
