Thus the problem becomes a DP over items, tracking how subsets are formed by size and sum, and then evaluating the best state by simulating how many elements are forced to be identifiable after choosing that state as the query target.

Why it works follows from a key invariant: for each DP state $(k, m)$, all valid subsets are represented in the DP, and the adversary’s freedom corresponds exactly to multiple paths reaching the same state. The DP is a standard 0/1 knapsack over both subset size and sum. The key implementation detail is reversing loops over $k$ and $s$ so that each item is used at most once. The min(2, ...) cap is essential because we only care whether a state is unique or not; distinguishing between 2 and 10 ways does not matter.
